Dr. Kimberly Wong
Ombuds for Graduate Students
Dr. Kimberly Wong is a counseling psychologist with more than a decade of experience working with culturally diverse students in higher education. Prior to joining Northeastern University she worked closely with graduate students at a number of east coast research institutions. Most recently, she served as a staff clinician and training coordinator at George Washington University’s Colonial Health Center. She has also previously worked at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her doctoral internship, postdoctoral fellowship and later supported students as a staff psychologist.
Dr. Wong has extensive experience supporting graduate students in their navigation of interpersonal and systemic concerns impacting their studies. She has worked with students via a variety of settings and modalities, including one-on-one consultation, individual and group therapy, mediation, case management, and workshops with a mental health focus.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in art history from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, graduating Phi Beta Kappa from their Commonwealth Honors College. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling and Personnel Services at Fordham University, where she also went on to receive her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Wong has particular interest and experience in academic and career concerns and conflict, cross-cultural issues, and working with international students.
